Innovation with induction – new Domino built-in hobs for the home, garden and camping

Germany's only hotplate manufacturer, based in Dinkelsbühl, Bavaria, is picking up on the latest trends! Rommelsbacher is launching two new “Made in Germany” built-in hobs with induction technology, which stand out thanks to their clever power management and adjustable power limitation. The two Domino hobs have been developed to best meet the specific requirements of changing power sources (e.g. when using inverters for camping).

The efficient use of various energy sources is becoming increasingly important in Germany. That is why Rommelsbacher, as a specialist in the field of mobile cooking, has taken a detailed look at the consequences this will have for the use of electric kitchen appliances in the future.

Nowadays, people are cooking more on the go and in smaller quantities. The number of single-person households in Germany is increasing, meaning that built-in hobs with only two burners are sufficient for most kitchens. In the leisure sector (from motorhomes to garden sheds), designers and users are increasingly moving away from gas and towards electricity, which can be used via inverters, for example. These two factors alone are leading to a growing demand for modern, compact hobs that can be adapted to the existing power supply.

Why is Rommelsbacher launching two induction models at once?

Both built-in appliances feature a frameless Schott Ceran Hightrans® eco glass ceramic surface, which is produced in an environmentally friendly manner without toxic heavy metals and is also very robust and easy to clean. Both built-in hobs can be easily connected to the mains via a Schuko plug. And both can be used as fully-fledged cooking hobs in the home, office, holiday home and camper van. However, there are differences in their design and application:

  • The EBC-H 3520/IN model is a very slimline Domino hob with a practical landscape format. Thanks to its extremely small installation dimensions, this model fits even into narrow worktops, so that even small campers do not have to forego the convenience of electric cooking. It has two round induction cooking zones, each with a 9-step power selection plus power boost function, guaranteeing the fastest possible heating. The maximum power consumption can be configured in 8 steps from 1500 W to 3700 W to suit the available power supply. Electronic control via touch control sensors, an integrated timer and various safety functions ensure convenient operation.
  • The EBC-V 3510/IN model is an exceptional Domino hob in the familiar portrait format. It has two square induction cooking zones which – and this is special! – can be combined into a single large hob using the practical bridge function. This also allows the use of larger induction cookware (e.g. a roasting pan). This model also features a 9-level power selection with power boost function for rapid heating, soft slider control with smart keys, electronic control via touch control sensors and various safety functions for perfect ease of use. Maximum flexibility is achieved during use by freely configuring the maximum power consumption – in line with the available power supply – in 100 W increments between 1400 W and 3700 W.

Thomas Alter, Head of Marketing/PR at Rommelsbacher and himself a passionate recreational camper, is delighted: ‘With this new generation of Domino built-in hobs with induction, Rommelsbacher is setting the tone for the future of mobile cooking. Never before have users been able to permanently set the power of a built-in hob between 6 and 16 amps using touch control sensors.’

Even though mobile cooking is one of Rommelsbacher's core competencies, both hobs had to undergo rigorous and persistent testing. This included a vibration test (known from the automotive industry) using the in-house cobot and, as an additional quality assurance measure, a long-term test with two vehicles over a period of one year and 60,000 kilometres. This means that the company's claim of “joy in cooking” is also a promise!  The EBC-H 3520/IN model is available at a recommended retail price of Euro 799.99 and the EBC-V 3510/IN model at a recommended retail price of Euro 1,099.99 in stores and in the Rommelsbacher online shop.
