The story of the longest noodles in Dinkelsbühl – Pastarella made it possible
It was a cool autumn morning in Dinkelsbühl, Middle Franconia. But in this unique, historic little town, preparations were underway for a special day. International Pasta Day was just around the corner, and there was a sense of anticipation in the air – especially at the headquarters of Rommelsbacher, the long-established company that has been known for its high-quality kitchen appliances for almost 100 years.
The Rommelsbacher kitchen was already bustling with activity. Today, something extraordinary was about to happen: using the PM 220, the popular electric pasta machine, something that Dinkelsbühl had never seen before was to be created – the longest pasta in the town's history.

Karin, one of the company's most passionate employees, had come up with the idea weeks ago. ‘What if we celebrate Pasta Day by making the longest pasta ever made in Dinkelsbühl?’ she had suggested, her eyes shining with excitement. Rommelsbacher wanted to show the world what the Pastarella, as the PM 220 is affectionately known, can do.
Now that the big day had arrived, Karin and Katharina stood in the kitchen. The pasta machine rested before them, ready to work its magic. The ingredients were simple: flour and water. But what was about to happen, both could only imagine in their minds. Katharina filled the machine with flour and pressed the start button. A soft whirring filled the room, Pastarella added the water independently and fully automatically, the machine kneaded the dough, smoothed and shaped it.
A short time later, the first noodles began to slide out – even, soft and shiny. And it didn't stop. Millimetre by millimetre, centimetre by centimetre, then metre by metre, the noodles became longer and longer. The entire marketing team gathered in amazement, and more and more employees joined them. Everyone was delighted with how perfectly the PM 220 pasta machine worked. It was fascinating how easy it was to produce such long and even pasta with the Pastarella.
Karin laughed and almost cried with joy when the noodles initially exceeded the entire length of the table and started to slide onto the floor. ‘We need more space!’ Katharina exclaimed as they began to lay the noodles across the work surface to document their unstoppable journey.
After a while – the pasta had already stretched to an impressive length – the PM 220 Pastarella finished its run. A murmur went through the crowd as Karin and Katharina seized the moment to show the world how easy it was to make not only delicious but also record-breaking pasta with this machine.
A small crowd had already gathered outside the Dinkelsbühl headquarters. Word of Dinkelsbühl's longest noodles had spread quickly: Rommelsbacher was attempting to break the noodle record! Spectators watched with their own eyes as Dinkelsbühl's longest noodles took shape. Comments flew in. ‘This can't be real!’ – ‘This pasta machine is amazing!’ – ‘I need this Pastarella!’...and the cash register was ringing in the company's own factory outlet.
Pasta Day was not only a success for Rommelsbacher – it was proof that innovation and tradition belong together. The PM 220 Pastarella pasta machine had shown that even in a town like Dinkelsbühl, where history is deeply rooted, new stories can be written – and in this case with pasta that was longer than anything the town had ever seen.
And so the video of Dinkelsbühl's longest pasta went viral. Under the hashtag #laengstenudelndinkelsbuehls, people all over the world can show off their own pasta creations made with the Pastarella. And what united them all was the realisation that sometimes the simplest things – like pasta – can have the greatest impact when you have the right machine for the job.
And that machine is called Pastarella from Rommelsbacher.
