Rommelsbacher: Once again top of the rankings in Stiftung Warentest – Multi Rice Cooker MRK 650 is the test winner

Success across the board: In the latest comparison by Stiftung Warentest (Issue 5/2026), the Multi Rice Cooker MRK 650 from Rommelsbacher has secured first place. With a quality rating of “GOOD (2.2)”, the appliance shares the top spot with another model, beating a strong field of 13 competitors in total (six with additional programmes and seven without). The MRK 650 scores particularly highly and comes out on top in its core competence: cooking rice to perfection. The Dinkelsbühl-based family business thus once again underlines its high quality standards and, following the success of the WK 3000 Water Kettle, reaffirms its first-class standing with the renowned testers.

There is great pleasure at Rommelsbacher, as the latest test report in the May issue of Stiftung Warentest clearly shows that quality and technical expertise pay off in practice. The fact that the company’s expertise in the Multi Rice Cooker segment has now been so clearly confirmed by an impartial expert assessment reinforces the brand’s reputation as a reliable partner for the modern kitchen. The MRK 650 impressed the testers in many categories.

The best cooking result in the test

The MRK 650 stands out among the models tested: according to Stiftung Warentest, the Rommelsbacher rice cooker cooks rice better than any other appliance in the test. Whilst many competitors struggled at maximum capacity, the MRK 650 delivered consistently excellent results. It was particularly impressive that the rice remained beautifully white at the bottom and did not stick.

Focus on versatility and safety

As well as cooking rice, the appliance also impresses in other areas. When steaming vegetables, the broccoli florets remained crisp and a rich green in the test. It also received the top mark of ‘very good (1.0)’ for safety: whilst other models in the test posed a risk of burns from the housing, the surface of the Rommelsbacher appliance remained at an ideal temperature.

An important detail for the kitchen: the inner pot features a high-quality, PFAS-free coating. This not only makes cooking a pleasure, but also makes cleaning a breeze.

Two sizes to suit every need

To complement the test winner, Rommelsbacher also offers a larger version in its range: the MRK 950. Whilst the MRK 650, with a capacity of 2 litres (for up to 10 portions of rice), is ideal for medium-sized households, the MRK 950, with 3.5 litres (for up to 16 portions of rice), offers plenty of space for the whole family. Both models use the same 3D heating technology and are incredibly easy to operate via the modern display.

Oliver Hawner, Head of Marketing | PR at Rommelsbacher, is clearly delighted with the result: “The fact that we’ve landed right at the top of the podium with our MRK 650 is simply brilliant! It’s a testament to our daily work here in Dinkelsbühl. Above all, the fact that the testers have certified that we cook the best rice of all the models makes us incredibly proud. This shows us that our combination of quality and ease of use is exactly what our customers are looking for.”

Quality with a system

This success is no one-off, but part of a pattern at Rommelsbacher. With the WK 3000, the company already has a current Stiftung Warentest test winner in the water kettle category in its range. These repeated accolades across various product groups underline the technical expertise of this long-established company across its entire range.

The MRK 650 Multi Rice Cooker, the test winner, is available for €99.99 and the larger MRK 950 for €129.99.

About us

From Stuttgart to Dinkelsbühl – inventive spirit leads to a quality brand.
In 1928, Gustav Rommelsbacher founded his company in Stuttgart with the construction of loudspeaker systems – innovative, courageous and ahead of his time. After the Second World War, he started afresh in Dinkelsbühl: in a garage, he developed electrical appliances under the name robusta, which were soon in demand internationally.

The small workshop grew into a steadily expanding family business. With high-quality technology, a clear vision and a great deal of commitment, the ROMMELSBACHER brand was created, which is now known worldwide and is gaining more and more fans. Our excellent kitchen appliances are characterised by durable quality, beautiful design and reliable service and repairability – for products that bring JOY for a long time.
