Disposal Instructions for old Appliances
Information according to EU WEEE Directive and German ElektroG
Important information on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment
Proper disposal of electrical appliances and batteries protects the environment and human health. Please observe the following instructions in accordance with the EU WEEE Directive and the German ElektroG.
Separate Collection of old appliances
Waste electrical equipment, batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. They are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin and must be collected separately.

How to Properly dispose of Old Appliances
According to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG3), you have several free options in Germany for returning your old electrical appliances:
Municipal Collection Points: Used or defective electrical appliances can be handed in free of charge at municipal collection points of recycling centres.
Return to Retail Stores: Large retailers are obliged to accept returns if certain conditions are met:
Note: The return obligation applies to electronics stores with a sales area of at least 400 m² and supermarkets with at least 800 m², provided they sell electrical appliances.
Mail Order / Online Shops: For the 1:1 return of lamps, small appliances (including small IT and telecommunication devices), and the 0:1 return, mail order companies and manufacturers participate in collective return systems for proper disposal and recycling. This system allows you to drop off your old appliance free of charge at nearby municipal collection points (recycling centers). A mandatory 1:1 return (purchase of a new appliance and return of the old one) from private households only applies to heat exchangers (e.g. refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners), screen devices, and large devices (> 50 cm edge length).
