Homemade yogurt and cream cheese are very popular products for those who attach importance to a conscious nutrition without undesirable ingredients. No matter whether enjoyed purely or as an addition to desserts or hearty dishes – there are many possibilities. With this multi-functional Yogurt & Cream Cheese Maker, you can prepare natural yogurt, cream cheese as well as herbal extracts of self-chosen ingredients at home. You can make those ahead; because in just one session you will receive e.g. up to 1200 g of yogurt which will stay fresh at least one week in the refrigerator. In addition, this appliance has four pre-set programmes. Whereas natural yogurt is prepared at 42 °C, a temperature of 38 °C is needed for the vegan/lactose-free variants. You can also make cream cheese, which is prepared at 30 °C. Anyone who also wants to produce oil extracts for cosmetic, naturopathic or nutritional purposes can do this reliably with the herbal extract function at 55 °C. The energy consumption is very low and the appliance is very easy to operate. It is even possible to adjust the duration of the programmes individually, so that with Jona, you can also prepare sour dough, for example. Jona is a very versatile appliance that fits perfectly in every nutrition-conscious household.

Is it possible to re-order the XXL-glass containers (1.2 l) and the ceramic yogurt cups (each 125 ml)? 
Yes, the XXL-glasscontainer with lid is available under article description "JG 1". The four ceramic yogurt cups with lid are available as a set under article description "JB 4".

The yogurt prepared is too liquid. What can I do? 
When preparing yogurt, the correct mixing ratio must be respected (1 l of milk must be mixed with at least 125 g of yogurt). If the yogurt is not firm enough for you, you an either let the prepared yogurt ripen in the refrigerator for a longer time or use a milk with higher content of fat for your next preparation. Furthermore a homogenized and pasteurized milk should be used for making yogurt. Additionally using milk powder may strenghen the thickness of yogurt. (1 tablespoon for 1 l of milk).

The yogurt prepared is too firm. What can I do? 
If your yogurt got too tight, shorten the ripening time or use milk with a lower content of fat.

How long is the prepared yogurt durable?  
Preservaton of the prepared yogurt depends on different factors (cleanliness of the used ustensiles, freshness of the ingredients, hygienics, …) Basicly the prepared yogurt is durable for approx. one week.

Is it also possible to prepare curd with this appliance? 
No, quark cannot be directly prepared in the yogurt maker. However, the prepared yogurt may be processed to quark, cream cheese, etc. by using different draining and/or heating methods.

Which sorts of milk can be used? Based on fat content, fresh and raw milk, goat milk, lactose-free, etc.? 
Principally you can use any animal milk and any animal yogurt. Please pay attention to buy homogenized and pasteurized milk, as it is better suitable for yogurt preparation. Raw milk should be heated up to 85 °C once before preparing yogurt for hygienic and health reasons. The higher the fat contet of the used milk, the more creamy and also more tight the yogurt will get. When using milk alternatives please note that eventually adding thickening agents may be necessary.

Is it possible to work with vegane plant milk together with plant yogurt with the appliance? 
With some plant milk products this is quite possible. Preparing soya yogurt from soya milk and a soya culture is working quite well. With other types of plant milk you need a special (plant-based) gelling agent like e. g. Agar-Agar or locust bean gum for thickening in addition.

Is it possible to use the prepared yogurt for the next preparation of yogurt? 
Yes, for preparing the next yogurt, you can use the already prepared yogurt. You do not need to buy another new yogurt and thus you can save packaging waste. You can do this up to 5 times before using a new culture.
